The review did not say anything about its quality as such. Just that it will not run his air conditioner.
Specs on gen says that "2300" has 1800 really. The Honda 2200 has 1800 really.
You don't get everything by paralleling two either.
My Briggs and Stratton 2200 is 1700 really. If you put two in parallel you can get 3000, not 3400 (two 1700s for the math challenged :) )
The manual says with two you get:
P2200 + P2200 = 3000w
P2200 + P3000 = 3000w
P3000 + P3000 = 4800w
I expect it is similar when paralleling other brand gens of whatever size.
