Depending on where you will be going, consider elevation.
Grand Canyon south rim for example is not nearly as hot in July at it's 6600 foot elevation, as some other areas which are lower.
Those of us on the east coast don't remember this as much as many of the western locals. Planning your boondocking spots for higher elevations can greatly help in keeping you comfortable.
