Generator power issue

I earlier posted asking about the fact that when my Honda is connected to trailer a plug in circuit tester. Showed no ground and I was worried. Many helpful responses. NOW my circuit tester shows hot - ground reversed when using the generator. Also shows same when plugged into generator. Am I in danger.

  • honda inverter genset does not have a bonded grd to neutral
you can not have a hot neutral reverse, when both wires float, and there is mo grd
both wires 'float' at about the same 60+vac about grd lug 'potential'
there is no current path to grd lug of the outlet ( so an outlet tester always reads open grd ... Not reverse polarity )

this would occur only thru wrong wiring of a home made bond adapter
    or a faulty tester

i belive you will the honda invertet would shut down if there was an internal short in the inverter section

    Oh wow.

If this advice is good, a few dollars spent on another tester would so affirm.

I would be absolutely skeptical of the notion that there is no problem and the tester is faulty. People have been killed in other areas in which I have worked believing that their instrumentation was "faulty."

Thanks. That's what I thought but electricity- challenged here.

Did you jumper the generator's ground to one of the other wires to stop the open ground error? If so, you may have jumpered it to the wrong wire.
