Generator Problem

Have a built in Honda generator in my 5er. It’s the bigger model (around 6000).

This weekend, while using the microwave and the air conditioning at the same time, power went out to both.

At home, plugged into shore power, everything works as normal.

There are two breakers (a 30 amp and a 20 amp) on the generator. Both are up. Tried resetting both to no avail.

There are three fuses on the generator. All look good.

Generator starts and runs fine. Only has 180 hours on it. What else should I check?

  • Bionic, the first thing I would do is check with a volt meter to see if you have voltage leaving the breakers. If so, and you have an ATS take reading there for starters.

Do you have an automatic transfer switch or do you plug the shore power cord into the generator? It's possible something failed in the ATS if you have one.
