I love my solar but have to have a generator just in case of clouds. I have a Honda 2K -- very quiet but not silent. I like silence.
Hondas work great if properly maintained. I run it for a half hour each month under load and then drain the carb each time. And I add Seafoam to the tank.
Don't know if other brands are as maintenance-sensitive as Hondas are.
If you neglect maintenance, the carb will clog, especially if you live in a place (like Calif) with a lot of ethanol in the gas, and you have to take it to the $hop (unless you can do carb work yourself).
Don't ask how I learned this Le$$on, or how long it took me to see the light.
