Generator question - let carb run dry or keep it wet?

I have followed the manual's instructions for 4 years now for my Honda 2000. They have detailed instructions depending on how long before the next use. I fill up the tank, add stabil, & drain the carb. It's stored for less than a year before the next use. Never had a problem.
