Generator question

I am camped at the lake and it is 110 outside. My Onan generator quit working so I have my Champion 9000 Watt generator as a backup. The generator has a LR 14-30 R 120 / 240, twist lock outlet. I have a dog bone that goes from that to 50 amp RV four pin. Can I safely plug my RV into that outlet?

  • Unplugged the PD EMS as suggested. All is well. Both AC's now running. Whew!
  • Good lord.. I can't imagine camping in that kind of heat! Wow.
  • yes it will work.

Open ground I assume the gen has a floating neutral.

    Unplug the PD EMS.

Either thats or if its harde wired youll need to make a bonding plug, and plug it into one of the outlets of the gen.

  • I did. I have 120 between both hots and ground and 120 between both hots and neutral. My PD EMS says open ground. Was hoping for someone thay has done this.
  • I'd put a meter on it before I connected the RV. It could be a really *ouch* expensive situation.
