Generator question

I know theres a device that you put between a generator and the device being powered that "cleans" the power as not to ruin delecate electronics . What is it called? Im in the market but cant find options because I dont know what they're called.
I need to clean the power from a 3000 watt contractor genny.Any suggestions on product or source would be welcome.

  • Hi- Do what the more expensive generator's do- install an inverter. It will change the generator O/P to perfect 60 Hz 120 V AC power. It can be expensive.

  • Most of those "delicate" electronic devices run on smooth DC provided by a robust brick that will convert miserable AC into the appropriate DC just fine. In general the output of a generator is a natural sine wave.

    UPS

Depending on the load, just plug your sensitive toys into a decent UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply). They'll never know the source is a genny. Obviously, this will also prevent sudden power loss and potential spikes to sensitive toys if the genny dies.
