The juice to operate the internal start switch comes from the engine battery as does the switch on the generator. The generator switch gets it's signal separetly than the switch inside the motor home. That internal switch usually has a connection starting at the starter junction. Since the starter is usually at the lower portion of the engine, corrosion occurs more rapidly than other locations. The wire needed to provide the internal convience of starting the genset is small an it's connection is probably a small eyelet at the end of the wire and affixed the a screw and nut onto the starter master connection terminal. The likely problem as I see it, is that the wire connection at the eyelet is corroded and althought still connected is not sufficiently solid. That will become troublsome as it may once in a while have enought of a connection to pass current and at other times give you this headache. Examine that area closely and I think you will discover your problem there. Easy fix. New connection.
