GFCI. Suddenly trippimg

2011 Crossroads Seville. This was our first weekend after we opened our trailer. Everything worked electrically all weekend (Friday, Saturday , most of Sunday ). I have a Tassimo for my coffee fix. I made coffee after supper with no issues. When I went to make a second cup the GFCI tripped. I reset. I did it again and the GFCI tripped. I tried again this morning and same issue. I tried plugging the Tassimo into different outlets in the living / kitchen area and same result. I plugged my cell phone into the same outlets with no issues. I brought the Tassimo home and it worked fine. I am at a loss and would appreciate any advice. Thank you.
  • GFCIs are really sensitive. Because of this, they fail often. Best advice is to try the offending appliance in your house to see if it really is the problem. If it passes ther test, then replace the TT GFCI. Luckily they are pretty cheap.
  • OK.. I'll hesitantly venture into this one.

Does the unit have a 3 prong plug? If it does, there is probably something "amiss" inside the coffee maker that is causing the GFCI to trip. Not necessarily life threatening, as heater elements frequently (with wear) have a slight trickle current to ground that could cause a GFCI to fault.

If the unit only has a 2 prong plug, and is tripping a GFCI, that is a whole different story. Don't have a good explanation for that, but would hesitate to use it until the reason is sorted out.

    Good luck!
  • Try the Tassimo in another GFCI outlet - like the one in bathroom of your home. If it doesn't trip that one then the outlet in your RV is probably junk. Replace it with one from HomeDepot (or where ever). They aren't RV specific.
