4 ga is on the small end, but at 2 feet length I wouldn't be totally sure that's the root cause. How about the battery interconnects? If they're also 4 ga, there's a bunch more small wire in the current path. Try measuring the DC voltage at the inverter input while when the microwave is started, or power a 1500 watt space heater and measure the DC voltage at the inverter. I totally disagree with the 110 vs. 120 volt suggestion. At a higher voltage, conventional microwave ovens draw more power. Doing the opposite, lowering from 120 to 110 (if you were able to do that) would help.
