Grid tie inverter with power outage capability

I liek the direction some of these grid tie inverters are taking. The ideal unit would let you grid tie extra power back to the utility but still have batteries, but this is a really good step. Gri...

Interesting. Ignoring tariffs and regulations for a minute and speaking pure technically, wouldn't a grid tie system hooked in to the electrical box, downstream of and closer to the loads than the meter, just reduce power drawn through their meter?
