Whoa Hoss!
A lot of so-called PROPANE bottles are actually filled with BUTANE. They can scream PROPANE all they want on the label but pressure gauges do not lie. I had to use a standard 11" water column regulator off my bulk PROPANE tank, pry the cap off the regulator and twist the pressure up to 18". It then was fed to my grille's regulator with a hose and forever since has worked fine. If the flame in the grille seems low, twist the NEW regulator up to twenty to thirty inches of water column to fine tune the flame.
TOO MUCH PRESSURE DROP in the regulator causes icing. The same process as freon AC. Heavy on the word DROP. Differential pressure.
