He seems to think there is "12v on the casing" because if you ground it, it needs to be pos grounded. I don't understand that at all.
My LandStar controller was also positive grounded and shown in the manual to be so for wiring it up, but since I didn't ground it, that was a non-issue.
My Solar30 "manual" says nothing about grounding it and the drawing showing it hooked up using the six terminals--array, load, battery does not show any grounding.
I don't have my Solar30 hooked up now, but it would be interesting to see if there is any "12v" on it. It has a plastic cover over a metal backing plate.
