Grrrrr...Suburban strikes again.

Had a flaky sail switch on my Suburban SF-42Q furnace. What used to be such a simple fix has degenerated into serious tearing apart. In the past, you removed the "door" from the SF series furnaces and you were greeted by a view of the sail switch right in front of you, so simple to r&r. Now they have moved it INSIDE the squirrel cage blower requiring taking the entire blower apart.

  • Welcome to “modern industrial design.” It’s all about building it, with no consideration of how to fix it. Heck, why fix, throw it away and buy a new one.
  • Probably like the Suburban? You have to pull the unit since it's on the backside?
  • Ha! That's nuthin. Try to get at the limit switch on an Atwood 8531-III. :(
