I'm not so concerned with the electrical capabilities of the splices, but rather the reliability. If they were not done with a quality crimping tool, the constant flexing could cause a connection to fail, causing you a high resistance connection. I would get a righteous plug, either Camco or Marinco(my preference is Marinco) and do the repair correctly. The plug will run you about $20. I realize that everyone wants to get by with minimal repair expense, but electrical components is not something that I would scrimp on.
