hail repair on fiberglass cap

What type of repair technique would be used to repair a crack that punctured through the fiberglass cap on the front of a toy hauler. Puncture is on curved part as the cap nears the top. The crack is about 2" long. Could this be repaired, or would cap have to be replaced. If replacement is the only option, where do you get a cap for manufacturers who are no longer around?

Also any advice on how to tell if the rubber roof is damaged, i couldn't find any visible tears, hail was 1.5"-3" in diameter.

  • Fiber glass cap can be repaired by anyone in the business. Many body shops can do. If you are around water and boats surely there is someone there. I found a full timer retired from a boat repair facility who repaired a hole in the rear cap of my previous motor home. Just need to make sure they spray the finish with gel coat. Many places want to use regular auto paint. Color will match but may not age the same as gel coat.
