I realize there are probably better systems available, especially for the experts among us, but why discourage someone from spending a few dollars to explore the technology? I am probably wrong, but the HF deal looks like a turnkey setup to begin what may or may not be a path one wants to follow. I would not encourage anyone to throw money away on junk, but if they want a low cost introduction to solar, why not let them try?
For just a few dollars more one can get a considerably BETTER panel AND controller.
For example you can get a 100W panel AND 30A controller for $169
HEREThat 30A controller will allow you to simply ADD more panels up to the 30A mark (you can add 3 more 100W panels which gives you 400W of solar)..
That deal beats the pants off the Harbor freight panels..
Heck I even have a Harbor freight within 20 minutes of my house and I wouldn't even consider buying their solar panels. Just not worth the hassle with three 15W panels when you can buy ONE 100W panel and get over twice the power..
