I believe the db differential holds the real key and 10 db is an enormous difference. I have an over-the-ear noise muffs for the Kubota as the engine knocking inside a concrete structure is incredible. I did a db check many years ago and it was over 100 I forgot the exact value. I remember from college the rule of egg-crate soft foam for low frequency and lead sheeting for high frequency noise containment. I use the metric method...75 meters.
