Harbor Freight/Honda smackdown....

I see HF is now offering a 3500 (maximum) watt PSW inverter with all the bells and whistles for $700.00 (regular price.

Even looks like the Honda that retails for $1999.00

the HF puts out a bit more power, is lighter (substantially), 100 pounds HF, 131 Honda and has the economy control.

I may buy one.. Plus it's electric start.

Guarantee is questionable but HF does accept returns on defective merchandise.

Opinions please?

    What about the noise level?

Claim is 57 dba @ 20' a match for the honda.
  • Tell you what will happen here. The new kid on the block (HF) will cause Honda to lower their price, just like Champion did with Honda (pushed Honda to come out with an open cradle inverter to compete with the Champion open cradle inverter). I have a Champion (now) and I'm 100% happy with it. Under the cabinet, they are all about the same anyway.

being retired, I like my juice on a budget and I don't care what name is on the cabinet, so long as it does what it's supposed to do without issue.

HF's Page and the Manual says 57dB at 25 pct load and 23 foot distance. Should be enough info to compare with HxxxA.

    There's a reason it's half the price.

    Lets hear the reason???

I have to tell you I was a Honda fan until I had a Honda 13 horse engine toss a rod for me and Honda told me it was my fault because I didn't change the oil. problem is, I did, every 25 hours, so I now had a Japanese paperweight that I replaced with a Predator engine that, I've never had an issue with. needless to say, no more Honda's in my garage or rv.
