Harris Battery - 27D170 - Labeled Incorrectly

Just posted this on our website, but wanted to let others know about this as this was discussed a couple years ago on here.

Our motorhome came with a Harris Battery deep cycle battery, model 27D170. On it's label, it says "20 HR RATE 160 AH". It was said it couldn't be right. I contacted them yesterday and after a couple replies, they stated that it wasn't labeled right and they were just made aware of this recently. You can read word for word the replies I got on our article. But that is the gist of it.

Another "RON POPIEL" type gimmick. They knew what they were doing. It was no accident. Think about it for a moment. *Oh I get forty miles to the gallon".

The funny part is the response I got back yesterday came from a females name. It was a standard reply not mentioning what I said what was printed on the label, but going saying the 160 was the reserve capacity in minutes...blah, blah, blah....

I replied back that the labeling appeared to be deceptive to me...then this morning I get the reply from the guys name about yes it was a mistake...

    1. JAYCO Minihomes come with Harris batteries
    2. We have replaced 6 prior to delivery at OUR expense(dealership)
    3. WHY? Because Harris will not honor their warranty.
    4. If you have any Harris battery, the odds are it is a bad battery and for piece of mind, replace it with another brand. Doug

The battery is good and we haven't had any problem with it....

    So what's the real rating?

95Ah at the 20 Hr rate. The Reserve Capacity minutes at 25@ draw is 160 minutes.

Recently :R as in when you made the actual inquiry?
More and more we are moving backward in technology :(

2 years ago, when it first came up, it really didn't make much difference to me. Yesterday, I was reading some things online and came across another posting from a couple years ago about the same thing. I went out in the snow and ice to my RV and looked again and took the picture. I researched some more and couldn't find anything and decided to email Harris Battery to ask about the label. They stated they were recently made aware of the incorrect printed label.

    The 27D170 spec sheet says it will produce 12VDC @ 25AMPs for 160 minutes (2.66 hours). The battery weighs 50lbs... A 50lb 12VDC battery is usually a 100AH size.
    Harris 27D170

    for comparison:
    The Trojan T-1275 150AH 12VDC battery weighs 82 lbs...
    The Trojan 27TMX 105AH 12VDC Battery weighs 55 lbs...

Yes...but this was to let people know about it being incorrectly labeled as such..
