Hauling an electric scooter on my GreyHawk Motorhome while towing a car

I've got a 4-wheel scooter.  What's the best way to achieve hauling it onto my class B motor home while towing a car on a tow dolly?

  • You can get a dual hitch receiver and put the scooter on a rack in the upper and the tow dolly ball in the lower, or buy a tow dolly that also has a motorcycle tray on it. That said, you really need to know your tongue weights for the hitch on your class B. It may not be able to support the weight. Grit's suggestion is a good one, put the rack for the scooter on the back of your car (provided you have a hitch receiver on it). then you can take it with you wherever you go.

All but certain the OPs rv is a class C.
Regardless, a dual hitch receiver or even a dual receiver insert makes for a big hitch extension for the dolly.
I might do that after careful consideration and likely far more experience than the OP probably has. But only because tow dolly’s don’t really add any hitch weight. Although lateral stabilizer may still need installed.
Either way, the OP would have to spend some good $ at a hitch/trailer shop and  then have a series of large heavy attachments hanging off the rear that would be probably difficult to remove if in a mobility scooter.
A dolly with a scooter pad at the front is the easy button. For $10k min unless one finds a  used one but they’re not exactly plentiful.
However if the “car” can’t handle a sufficient receiver those are options albeit expensive ones.
The other option knowing the OP likely has a E 350/450 chassis is a front hitch with a scooter basket. And probably not any more $ than hooking to the back of the car.
Either way, scooter needs covered in any position front, middle or rear mount and will be a big sail on the front with a cover on it.  The considerations are ease of use for the OP and cost.
Also any option other than on the back of the car means can’t haul the scooter unless the RV moves. Which doesn’t sound practical at all. If you need a scooter you need it when you get out of the car just as much as when driving the RV. And a standalone scooter carrier can be moved to either vehicle easily. (Still assuming if one is somewhat scooter bound they have the strength and ability to move a carrier. Or find someone who will. )

Also assuming the “car” on the dolly isn’t too low slung to carry the scooter without bottoming out while on the dolly.

  • Hi. About the only option is put a hitch and carrier on the back of the car.
Assuming you can’t get it in the RV door.
