No, I haven't had a slide control fail. I have had a fuse blow on the bedroom slide and I now carry spares as they're small and cheap - I also learned how to crank it in by hand.
I wouldn't buy a spare slide controller unless another one fails. Did you check to see if the controllers for the other slides can be changed with the failed one if it happens again. That would be a PITA, buy it might be an option. And if all else fails, is there a way to manually retract the slide?
