exactly..its not the "switching time", its the voltage drop on the generator output
when shore power shuts down, its instant
when you turn the generator off,
it whines down and the transfer switch doesn't switch until after the voltage has dropped too low for the DVR and sat to stay on
so use UPS
use dedicated inverter..no generator power
pull the plug
IF using installed generator, and installed inverter circuit
simply flip off circuit breaker in power panel or on generator,before turning off generator
i use a dedicated inverter, the electronics are always on the inverter, even if genset or shore power is available
