Thanks for your responses. FYI, the hard wired surge protector was made by Cutler Hammer. It looked like a mini bomb had gone off in it. It was installed by a friend years ago as he worked for Cutler. I've checked all,other electrical devices, converter, tv, jacks and etc. everything else seems fine so I guess the device made a difference.
It was a licensed electrician whom I hired. He is a nice guy but had no RV experience and assumed the biggest g plug needed 240 I guess.
We are negotiating a settlement.
