Again my daughter brought this TT..and the guy she brought it from had a propane heater inside. She asked why..and he said one time he turned it on and it started smoking..Does that sound like a short...

You don't state age. BUT, a NEW LP RV Heater will smoke for 5 to 10 minutes to burn off the burner casing oil residue from the manufacture of the building of the furnace. Once that is done, then it will not smoke again. Doug
