HELP !!!!!!

I have an Onan micro quiet 4000

Model 4KYFA26100K

It cranks fine and starts but when I release the start switch it dies. The power shuts off to the pump. I jumped the pump & it still dies when I release the switch. Fresh oil and has been working fine then one day this gremlin showed up. Any ideas???

  • My work generator was a bad low oil pressure sensor with similar problems.
  • It does the same on either switch. I even disconnected the remote. Where is the low oil switch on a microquiet 4000??
  • Sounds like a classic low oil pressure or level switch. Generally the start switch bypasses that protection so the generator will start allowing oil pressure to build. If switch is bad when you release the start switch the engine quits
  • You may have a bad switch...or bad wire....which is cutting the engine off again, as soon as you let go of the "start" part of it.

Will it start at the engine itself, or only from the inside start switch?

There are a couple of Onan Techs who are on this Forum, I'm sure they can be very helpful!

    Good Luck:)
