I would consider swapping the sink and cook top. The p-trap and other plumbing will be less intrusive over the water heater, leaving a relatively unobstructed right side for drawers and such. Also, route the under sink plumbing around the sides of the cabinet to leave more usable space. Slide out trash can is a good thing. Under sink water filter saves on bottled water.
