Help! What purpose does this water line serve? Pic included.
Hello. We had to replace our water tank. Now we are wondering if this line connecting the hot and cold water serves any purpose? If not...we will simply remove it.

After draining the water heater when winterizing, put the drain plug back in. Keeps the insects out of the tank and hot water piping.
