To answer your question, Will it "clamp" fast enough?
It depends on several factors, a few of them......
From my expereince with several MS MPPT units they can be programmed to react VERY fast as in milli seconds if need be
How is your system connected?
Separate lines from the charge controller and the Inverter to the battery bank?
How long are the wires and what gauge?
Or do you share a connection similiar to this drawing?
Have you connected the "Voltage Sense" line from the controller to the battery? (if not I strongly suggest it)
Ignore the "Load" terminals in the drawing - only really used in very small systems
