Video demonstrations.
First clip is the laptop plugged into AC powered by the big inverter that causes the fault.
Clip 1, voltage spike while laptop charging with large inverter
This clip is a smaller inverter charging the laptop. Unplugging the charger also causes the voltage spike which shuts down the larger inverter. No load was on the large inverter at this time.
Clip 2, voltage spike while laptop charging with a smaller inverter
Here is just a small 12V load on the system, my portable DVD player. I suspect a smaller draw on the battery than the inverter charging the laptop, but I'm not sure about that. Very small spike and no inverter fault in this instance.
