Why not?
The purpose of a P trap is to be a liquid barrier for sewer odors and gases, to keep them from coming back up thru the plumbing. Those check valves have a rubber type lip that flap closed to do the same thing. I think that would NOT always be a complete seal, so yes, install them if you cannot use a standard P trap, but do not think they are better than a P trap. Doug

Are you speaking from experience? ..... or are you just thinking it would pass sewer gases through it?
My understanding is that they work just fine.
