When I got my OFF-ROAD POPUP I had the 13,500BTU A/C added. Wish I have gone to the 9,500 BTU model. That would have been a much better setup and would work well with my 2KW Generator.
I never could get my 2KW generator to run my 13,500 BTU unit. I could shut everthing down and pre-start the fan and it would fire up only to trip the breaker when it cycled the first time when in use.
We just gave up on using the Air Conditioner when off the power grid. Most camp sites wouldn't let us run the generator when we wanted too anyway...
I beefed the trailer to run everything we wanted to run off the batteries and Inverter and now only run the 2KW generator to re-charge the batteries for three hours aday when allowed to run the generator... Worked out great for us...
I have on occasion brought along our house 8000BTU window unit A/C to use siting on a creek bed somewhere on private property and it worked great off the 2KW Generator everytime.
