In my experience, modern tires last a long time and lots of miles. .
Lots of miles maybe, but not long time.
I bought my 1972 conversion 11 years ago. It come on tires with cracks where I could stick my finger tips in.
Still made 120 miles trip home with no tire incident.
After restoration job I put new Alcoa wheels with 12R22.5 Michelin commercial tires, but left one better looking old tires on tag axle as experiment.
The tire has DOT number that indicate only last year of manufacturing, what with "5" I assume was 1985.
So as of today I have 10 years old Michelin, who kept in the shade develop several deep cracks 1/2 the height of the sidewall, while 30 years old tire, sitting on split rim with inner tube has long, circular cracks around, but all of them seem to be surface cracks.
All tires kept the pressure for a year, dropping around 15 psi from 90 psi nominal.
I just sold the coach and drove it almost 400 miles to new owners. No tire issue and new owners are happy with coach quality.
Other observation, our 12 years old Mercedes has steering wheel wrapped in deteriorating leather.
The 44 years old leather on Prevost steering wheel is in perfect condition.
