Hi smk,
So far as I am aware there is no way to limit the charging output amps.
As I was doing a back yard experiment I happened to be looking at the Magnum display when the fault happened. It was reading 127 amps (2 more than the rated output).
I do know the Magnum can put out 125 amps from a 120 volt 15 amp supply. It is, as others have mentioned, power factor corrected.
I think I simply had very hungry AGM batteries which were willing to suck up every amp they could (greedy things!).

I think I am missing something here.
Can you just turn down the charging amps instead of limiting input power?
