Holding Tank Issues

I know these are notoriously unreliable but usually give a false reading that there is something in the tank. My tanks definitely have waste water in them, but every tank shows empty. Putting a ground to the probes makes no difference. Battery gauge works fine. Fresh water tank is empty, but shows a 2/3 reading sometimes and sometimes empty. Driving me crazy. Any idea's? Thanks

  • Take a piece of tape....any color you choose (matching, accent etc.) and cover the tank level monitor indicating lights :B

They are just for show.......and are installed so that folks can obsess over them vs enjoying camping.

Could be wire connections on backside of monitor panel.

Most of our previous RVs didn't have indicators and haven't looked at current RVs for over 6 yrs.

    Toilet burps....time to dump
Sink/shower start to drain slower....time to dump
Freshwater pump goes buuurrrrrrrp....should have put some water in tank
  • I don't even know why they put those darn things in TT's any more since they don't work.
  • Might have a bad ground wire going to the gauge from the chassis...grounds can give all kinds of funny readings if they are loose.
  • A false fresh water reading would be concerning to me too. Have no idea what to do about it.

    Gray and black.. forgeddaboudit.
