Rockauto was having a wholesaler clearance on many Mobil1 filters last week. People on the Bitog forums were ordering dozens at a time for less than half the regular price on many models.
Feeling the Heft of a Mobil 1 filter, or a Fram Ultra is rather impressive compared to the more economy minded filters.
I've got both on my table as I type this. The FramXG16 will be going on my remote transmission filter, the M1-301 on my engine to replace the Motorcraft FL-1A.
I open up all my used oil filters and check what the media and external magnets captured. The can thickness of the Mobil 1 cans makes this difficult as I usually use a sharp bt low quality chisel to punch through near the base rather than a cutting wheel.
I don't know about Mexico, but Fram Ultra is now taking up a lot of shelf space in the local Walmarts, more so than the orange can of Death models or other brands.
My XG16 was $8.97, same price as Amazon. My M1-301 was $12.93 on Amazon with no tax. My FL-1a was right around 4$ at wally world. Oil and oil filters are about the only things I ever go into wally world for, and while in the automotive department, I like to sneer at their dust covered Marine batteries. Makes me feel good for no apparent reason.
