I was told it was a 50 amp but I just went and looked and it is a 55amp charger. 8955PEC is model. I guess way more then what a 1000 watt can handle. When you say it won't do boost or float are you saying that it can't charge at near 50 amps? I never plug in this rv I let the solar charger do the battery charging at home (zero shade) my concern is near dead batteries after 2 nights of furnace use in winter with sun so low our trees around here block all sun. I guess the 2000 watt is the better choice.
when you get a generator, you will be better off, IF you charge every day,
don't let the batteries get that low, if it can be avoided
