For a 1,000, 2,000 or 3,000 I would first get a 1500 watt space heater..
Fill the tank,, I might consider adding SeaFoam,(NOT fill with "Winter" gas, not Summer) First of every month, or the 15th, take your pick, go out and plug in the heater and fire it up.
1,000 watt set heater to LOW.. Thermostat to max, +come back in 30 minutes or so shut down and unplug.
2,000 or 3,000 turn to HIGH, again come back in 30 minutes or so.
Top off tank as needed
Logic: routine monthly maintenance runs are the best storage
usually it is during those winter storage months that the line snaps in an ice storm or freezing rain and leaves you wishing the generator was gassed up and ready to keep food cold and house warm .. (NOTE a proper generator transfer panel on the house makes this all possible)
