Honda 2k generator - fuel in the oil

I went to check the oil in one of my 2ks, and found the oil was very thin and apparently diluted by gasoline. Yikes. I'd been having a problem with it dripping fuel while running, and I had clamped off the small hose coming from the carb. Perhaps that's what caused this.

I did of bit of research and found it is fixable, but not how it happens. Anyone have this problem?
  • Thanks. I have a good local Honda shop. I don't tinker.
  • Correct. Could be dirt in the carb, a defective needle assy or float.
The fix is your choice. Replace the defective parts probably cheapest, but replacing the carb probably the quickest, but most expensive.

And that would be a new or cleaned carburetor?
  • If the needle and seat in the carb is leaking, the carb will overfill with fuel. The tube drains this off. With it clamped off the fuel then runs into the engine while stopped.
    A relatively simple fix.
