Honda 6500is question

For Honda 6500is owners only. Can the generator set on eco, will it start the 15000 BTU A/C or do you have to keep it set off and generator at full speed to start it? I know 2 2000 twinned together at 7000 feet must have eco shut off or it cannot start it from a idle. Thanks for the answer.
  • my 3000is Honda will start 1 of my 13.5k ACs just fine when on eco...
  • I was only trying to help by saying that if a combined 5000 (3000+2000) watts of power will start my 15k air conditioner running in eco mode the 6500 would be a no brainer.

But, maybe you'll get the person you're looking for if we keep bumping you up.
  • I have a 6500is but haven't run my 15K AC with it.

In looking at Honda's generator spec book the 6500is is rated for 6,500 max watts and 5,500 rated watts.

In their watts needed chart they show that a 13,500 BTU RV AC demands 2800 watts on start up and 1800 running watts.

So with the above it looks like a EU6500is should have plenty of instant power on eco

  • Hi,

In your shoes I'd look at the Magnum or Victron boost inverters and go with a Yamaha 3000 iSEB.
  • I donot own one that is why I'm asking before i buy one. Thats why I'm asking people that own one as they would know for sure. I don't want to spend $4,000 and have to keep it set on high speed all the time so the A/C can cycle on & off as needed. Thanks
  • I don't have a 6500 but I do have an EU2000i and an EU3000is that I sometime run in parallel. They will start my 15k unit with both in eco mode so I'm sure the with 6500 it should be a very easy.
  • I don't have a honda but if it won't start it on Eco turn on the toasted or microwave for a few seconds to ramp it up then turn on the AC.
