Love my trusty Honda. Have recently learned here that my six amp charger is only charging my twin deep cycles at 3 amps each. So am thinking of buying a 50 amp charger from Sears so as to charge each battery at 25 amps. Will my Honda handle this? Thsnks

Bob = you will have to check the AC INPUT specs on the new charger. Your HONDA EU1000i probably only gives you somewhere around 850-900WATTS of juice.If your 50AMP Battery charger draws more than the 850-900WATTS then the Honda EU1000i will not be big enough to power up the unit. Especially if you are connecting the trailer 30A Shore power Cable directly to the Honda EU1000 120V receptacle. You may have connect the new 50AMP Charger directly to the Honda EU1000i to do this.Check the 120VAC INPUT Specifications of the new 50AMP charger to see if it can be done or not... Also you will want to purchase a SMART MODE charger if you are expecting to be able to re-charge your batteries in a short three hour generator run time.Be sure to check all of that out before you purchase something that won't run being plugged into your Honda EU1000i unit.Roy Ken

I just caught that and reworded my comment - I also just noticed by reading your other earlier comments you are running TROJAN BATTERIES which needs 14.8VDC BOOST mode DC charging voltages. You will need to make sure your new DC Charger is capable of doing that as well. Roy Ken

Yeah, it'll do it, but working hard.You may want to show us what charger you're looking at. 50a is awfully high for a battery charger. I think you'd be looking at a converter.

So you were getting by with 3A per battery but now you want to charge faster. Have you considered a charge rate lower than 25A per battery so you will have some margin for your EU1000 but still have a much higher rate than with your original setup?Dick
