I would think the stock jet would make for easier starting at altitude, but be too rich for smooth running. I can't see how going to 7000 feet would make the thing not start.
OP talks about starting it in PHX with no choke. Well, I suppose at 100+ degrees that might be the case. I would always use the choke for a cold start though. I guess I'm trying to say that I'm skeptical that the high altitude jet will make it start more easily at altitude.
