And Honda never even bothered to send me a notice.
If you own an EU2000i and did not get a letter from Honda about the recall, there are a number of reasons:
1. Your unit was not in the effected range. Nearly all units that are part of this recall campaign were manufactured in the last 18 months. Honda only sent out letters to customers with units in the effected range.
2. If your unit was in the range, it's possible your name and address were never registered with Honda at the time of sale. If you bought from an independent dealer, they often do this for you. If you bought a a big-box store, such as Camping World, it may not have been done, but there is a postage-paid card in the box you can always complete and drop in the mail. You can also just call Honda direct with the serial number and data of purchase and register over the phone. Bottom line, Honda can only contact customers who registered their generators.
3. Here's a link with full details and FYI about the recall and possible work needed. Have the serial number off the back of your generator's case handy to see if your unit is in the effected range:
Honda EU2000i Recall Bulletin Complete (FYI, not DIY)
4. You can contact Honda Customer Relations (770.497.6400)for more information, or just ask me. I work for Honda and will help out any way I can.

Caveat: I work for Honda, but the preceding is my opinion alone.
