3000w is the surge capacity it will carry for xx seconds or minutes
2800w is the capacity it will carry as a continuing load at whatever ambient temp the generator is rated to operate in , hotter temps mean lower continuous load, because the air cooled engine can Not remove enough heat to operate at max power output
Things I do when running the A/c
Make sure the batteries are CHARGED, run generator before I need the a/c
Make sure water heater other electric LOADS are off
Turn on a/c before it gets to hot in th the RV, have it running on fan before I switch to cooling p
Switch to cooling before it's too warm in RV
Leave a/c on full cold, cycling the compressor is the hard surge, that causes over loads
If needed take generator out of econ mode..a little extra engine speed, means extra engine cooling from the engine fan moving more air, in hot weather this can mean the difference between running and over load
(Econ is great when charging batteries) makes very little noise difference when powering the a/c
