OK folks. I've done a little research and found out some interesting information. It appears that Coleman made a model of 13.5 BTU air conditioners that have a start capacitor deleted for one reason or another. The specific model I'm aware of is MODEL #48253C966.
As a result of the missing capacitor the unit WILL NOT run on a Honda EU3000 generator as it draws around 32 amps on start up. Perhaps the Carrier A/C has a similar issue.
I have read that a capacitor can be added to the Coleman unit to resolve the issue but don't have all the details yet.
Apparently the Coleman unit was discontinued in 2013 but the model in question made it's way into some manufacturers 2014 and 2015 model units too.
