Honda Quiet Box

Wow! That is awesome. I would bet that it cost almost as much as a generator does. I would consider getting one (or two) if it was affordable.

¥99,750 = $1,020. It reduces the sound of a 1600 watt unit by 8 to 10db.

Now that is cool! I wish the guy next to me on the last trip had one of those.

About 6 years ago I posted about 20 build photos of the one I built for my EU1000i. My digital DB meter scale starts at 50 db and at 21' distance it would not bring the needle off of the peg powering a 500w work light. It is running now here at Fort Casey State Park and has probably over 1600 hours on it. Still starts first pull. Just regular oil changes is all it has had. It cost about $200.00 for material. I have lost the build photos. They may still be here somewhere.

any chance you can post a link to the photos or do an updated post?? Looks just like what I'd like to have.

The Honda box looks to be, like most Japanese stuff, engineered with a lot of ergonomics.

If I needed one, I'd buy an aluminum tool or battery box and machine it with the right openings. I'd use some type of constrained layer damping to lower the db. There's no way I'd pay $1K for the Honda box.
