Good. I have fought that voltage drop from the alt to house batteries as many others have.
The given advice is great so you should be able to get the drop down enough to aid your charge with the alt. I have a switch to control a solenoid and only use it in bad weather and night travel. My solar does most road travel charging otherwise. I rarely use Alt charging now.
