I know of no one being a bigger cheapskate than me. Rolls & Surrette and Concorde Lifeline. Pretty tough though when a person is stuck with a group 24 cage. But there's little doubt - if you are a dedicated boondocker a cheap battery will be the most expensive thing you will ever buy...
I made that mistake, early on, only once. Got back from a week of camping yesterday. Today, we see how well the T-1275 bounces back. Once the fog burns off and the sun comes out, the Trojan 150 AH battery will receive the full 8.5- 9 amps of solar power fury at 15.0V for as long as it takes. Battery V was at 12.22V yesterday morning when I disconnected everything. I predict maybe 5 or 6 hours will be max.
I am really liking that 20 Amp solar charge controller I bought on Amazon. It may have a bogus MPPT 20 amp label on it, and really be a PWM job, but the best feature about it is the absolute complete adjustability of it for voltage, to bulk charge, top charge and equalize charge, by manually changing the settings.
