Unless you live at the North Pole, it is NOT necessary to remove batteries to keep them charged during storage.
IF everything is working correctly, running the engine for 30 minutes and then the Gen for 30 minutes once a month.....with the batteries connected....and then disconnecting between runs will do the same thing as what he recommends with a LOT less hassle.
